As the popularity of “functional fitness” and high intensity training (HIT) type fitness programs increases, a better understanding of what these programs offer is vital to the clinician/practitioner. This course will introduce the participant to some of the more common types of movements/exercises often seen in these types of fitness programs, including barbells, kettlebells, bodyweight exercises, and other monostructural training implements. Participants can expect to learn the basics of each movement from a biomechanical basis, how to properly teach the movements, and regressions and progressions that will help clients safely progress and participate in his or her selected fitness program. Additionally, participants should expect improved skills with communication, evaluation, and dynamic movement analysis for their clients.

  4. Assess for individual differences in people that may limit participation and/or performance of specific movements/exercises.
  5. Use effective coaching cues to improve technique and performance of movements/exercises.
  6. Incorporate various drills and techniques to move clients along a regression <> progression spectrum.
