This course will serve to build upon essential knowledge gained by rehabilitation professionals at the basic educational level as required for practice. The instructional material will provide an expanded understanding of lower extremity injuries and their presentation in the outpatient setting. Furthermore, this course will review the histological architecture involved with healing from injury and how the application of these principles guides successful rehabilitation. The science of plyometrics and their role in the suggested patient populations will be introduced and explained at an advanced level. Finally, the learner will be fully immersed in the theoretical applications of the return-to-sport processes, ensuring a complete and expansive compilation of all learning objectives.
Course content will be composed of interactive didactic lecture presentations, multi-media demonstrations, and exclusive hands-on laboratory sessions with renown experts in the field. Guest speakers from different disciplines will provide a truly all-encompassing perspective of the lower extremity athlete.
TIME: 8:00a - 6:00p (lunch 12-1p)
ATTIRE: Comfortable sportswear; laboratory components will consist of manual therapy and exercise
